Careless Driving is related to reckless driving in that it endangers other drivers on the road. This is less severe than reckless driving and the driver’s intent is often the main factor.

Definition
Clark County Nevada Code 14.60.190 defines Careless Driving as operating a motor vehicle upon a highway without giving full time and attention to the operation of the vehicle. A common reason for a Careless Driving infraction is that a driver was found to violate Nevada NRS 484B.165:
Using handheld wireless communications device to type or enter text, send or read data, engage in nonvoice communication or engage in voice communications without use of hands-free device prohibited; exceptions; penalty; additional penalty for violation in work zone or pedestrian safety zone. [Effective January 1, 2023.]
Penalties
Careless Driving can result in a misdemeanor conviction which includes up to 6 months in jail and fines up to $1000.
